    TF-CBT dissemination efforts to date, there are relatively few resources and no known formal-ized guidelines available to help clinicians deter-mine appropriateness for TF-CBT. The treatment developers do include general recommendations about case selection in the treatment manual (Cohen, Mannarino, & Deblinger, 2006) and the TF–CBT is a treatment intervention that integrates cognitive and behavioral interventions with traditional child-abuse therapies. Its focus is to help children talk directly about their traumatic experiences in a supportive environment. The program operates through the use of a parental treatment component and several child–parent sessions.

    Why Use TF-CBT • TF-CBT is best delivered by creative, resourceful therapists who have developed close therapeutic alliances with their clients. • This treatment is designed to be provided in a flexible and developmentally appropriate manner to address the unique needs of each child and family. This second phase involved two studies evaluating the completed TF‐CBT manual delivered by (a) the developer and (b) other therapists. A single‐case multiple‐baseline design was used to demonstrate the controlling effects of the treatment on PTSD symptoms and child coping. Eight 9–13‐year‐old abused children with PTSD were treated.
